Hannah was born in Beverley, Yorkshire, England The youngest of the three children of an Nigerian father who was a forensic psychologist and mother who was a Norwegian mother of a fashion model. She studied at Hull Collegiate School after completing primary school in Kirk Ella. She received her diploma in 2012 from Central School of Speech and Drama. John-Kamen's acting career started in 2011, when she voiced Dark Souls for video games. Later, she would be featured in episodes of the television series Misfits (2012), Black Mirror (2012), Whitechapel (2013), The Syndicate (2013), The Midnight Beast (2014) and The Hour (2015). In 2012, John-Kamen landed the lead role of Viva on Viva Forever which was a West End musical based on the songs of the Spice Girls. Viva Forever was written by Jennifer Saunders, produced by Judy Craymer and premiered 11 December 2012 in the Piccadilly Theatre. The show had a fair amount of negative feedback. The Daily Mirror praised John Kamen but not the show. They said: "It's a shame a star cast gets let down with a formulaic script and leaden words." The show closed down on 29th June 2013. John-Kamen's 2015 starred role was on SyFy Killjoys. In 2016, John-Kamen was a guest starring role on HBO's Game of Thrones. The actress was in "Playtest", a Black Mirror anthology episode, in 2016. In the second season of the UK series The Tunnel she also appeared. She was the Ghost in the movie about superheroes, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
